Udupi: The Bharatiya Janata Party, State president and MP Prahlad Joshi on Friday said that the State is facing a lot of issues due to the power cuts in the recent days and that not the natural calamity but the Congress government alone is responsible for this.

Further slamming the congress government  for their inefficiency,  Joshi said that the Energy Minister of Karnataka DK Shivakumar has announced that the power issue is due to drought like situation in the State however they have forgotten that electricity can also be supplied by coal, and  the state has no coal shortage.

The Central government facilitates coal linkages from Maharashta to the state, still we have no power. Joshi stressed that the Energy Minister should agree that because of him alone the State is under crisis.

He said that due to power cut for more than 7 to hours a day, farmers in the state are in great trouble, which has given rise to Raitha Chaitanya Yatra, and over 15,000 people participated in the farmers’ convention.

“The congress led state government and their poor administration has inspired the Yatra and given confidence among farmers in the State. They have this pressurized the state government to find permanent solution to people’s problems.

While addressing the media, Joshi said that the public in large number have supported the event, as they are tired of poor and corrupt state government.

Senior BJP leader, K S Eshwarappa said BJP strongly condemn energy minister’s statement that he will not provide electricity for the Ganesh festival celebrations. He should clarify his stance by tomorrow and provide electricity to the festival or else a huge protest will be organized.
