Udupi :B.M. Hegde, former Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University was speaking at a two-day international seminar on ‘Health-related physical fitness and wellness’ organised by the Poornaprajna College in collaboration with the Mangalore University Physical Education Teachers’ Association on Friday August 22.

Prof. Hegde said the aim of education is to create healthy minds and not wealthy careers. The world is full of science without science nothing exists.  Speaking in-depth of science he said there are 2 sciences; one is western and another one is eastern or Indian science (Ayurvedha).

Science is nothing but curiosity. Western countries have realised the importance of eastern science.

He further said we need right education than ‘Right to Education’. The new system of education doesn’t allow students to think. It only forces them to follow the teacher so that they pass the examination.

It is essential for people to develop positive thoughts, for that everyone should try to help others. They should be grateful for the help they received. Love every one. Fitness depended on a healthy mind. Physical education was essential to be in good health, he added.
