Udupi: During Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s visit to Mangaluru on January 10, Tollgate Virodhi Horata Samithi have warned of welcoming the Minister with black flags. The Samithi has resorted to the move to oppose the government assurance given of merging Surathkal tollgate with Hejamadi not being fulfilled.
Samithi Convenor Muneer Katipalla has submitted memorandum to BJP State President State Nalin Kumar Kateel urging to meet Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the issue on behalf of the Samithi.
The authorities concerned had assured merger of the toll with Hejamadi toll plaza. The assurance stands not fulfilled despite State Government writing to NHAI regarding the closure of this toll.
Surathakal toll gate was established in 2014 only for six months but the contract has been renewed for last several years.
