The Shankaranarayana police have apprehended three individuals suspected of involvement in a recent areca nut theft case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Amir Zainuddin (23) from Gulwadi, Kundapur, Nisar Asif Annar (24) residing in Usman Nagar, Bhatkal, and Munawar (21) residing in Bilalakhand, Bhatkal.
Allegedly, the accused conducted the thefts by burglarizing several areca nut trading shops within the Shankaranarayana police station limits. The thefts are believed to have taken place in areas including Haladi and Kudru Bailur, as well as Jadkal under the Kollur police station, and Nojadi under the Gangolli police station.
Law enforcement authorities have seized 11.65 quintals of betel leaves from the accused individuals. Additionally, the pickups and scooters utilized in the commission of the thefts have been confiscated. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be Rs 4.05 lakh. Subsequently, the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
