Udupi: A man selling jewelry in Udupi was recently tricked by three women who walked into his store to sell a bracelet. Clad in burkas, the three women successfully cheated the shopkeeper, stating that the bracelet was a gold one. The bracelet, weighing an overall of 15,800 grams gave them good money to walk out with a gold necklace of 31.49 grams and a pair of earrings weighing 10.94 grams.

The incident took place on Sunday, February 18th at about 7.30 in the evening at Maruti jewelers, on Kanakadasa road. The women claimed that the bracelet was worth a cost of Rs 48.771, for which they received an additional amount of Rs 19000, in addition to the gold ornaments they actually got for free, giving them a profit of Rs 1,98, 923.

While the women sure left the store feeling good about themselves, a case has now been filed at the Udupi town police station. While we live in a country that loves gold, it is also important to keep in mind that we acquire these means of wealth honestly.
