Udupi: At Belle Gram Panchayat, about 5 – 6 acres of forest area was gutted in a fire that broke out near Kattingeri Road.
The trees and shrubs in the forest area were gutted in the fire and during the day, the villagers of the surrounding area and members of the Nisarga Yuva Mandali had doused the fire. The fire, which broke out again at night, spread all over the place and was doused under the leadership of Udupi Fire Brigade personnel and Nisarga Yuva Mandal President Sukumar Poojary.
Belle Grama Panchayat President Sudhakar Poojary, Member Belle Gururaja Bhat, Advocate Santhosh Kumar Moodubelle, Nisarga Yuva Mandala Members and local villagers helped in dousing the fire.
