Udupi: According to S. Angara, the Karnataka Minister for Fisheries and Ports, a high-level probe would be carried out into the recent collapse of the mini-jetty at Gangolli Fishing Port in the Udupi District.

He was speaking to mediapersons following a spot check at the jetty on the evening of Thursday September 29 that the investigative team, which will be directed to conduct the investigation transparently, would be disclosed on Monday October 3.

Angara, who is also the Minister In-Charge of the Udupi District, said that the contractor who was awarded the work will be blacklisted, and that anyone found guilty would face punishment.
The Minister said that the Government had spent Rs. 10 Crore on the jetty’s construction.

In a busy season, the fishermen at Gangolli are struggling as they are forced to anchor their boats in harbours at Bhatkal or Malpe.
