Udupi: Hindu outfits demand Savarkar idol at Brahmagiri Circle

Udupi: The members of the Hindu Mahasabha and Bajrang Dal have demanded for the installation of the statue of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar at Brahmagiri Circle, Ajjarkad limits in the City on Monday August 22.

A request for permission to erect the statue was submitted on behalf of patriotic citizens along with the interest of the two organisations to the Udupi City Municipal Council President to inform the public about the importance of Savarkar in the freedom struggle.

Stating that “Savarkar had fought against the British as a revolutionary campaigner,” the importance of the role of Savarkar in the freedom struggle was highlighted.

Hindu Mahasabha, Dakshina Kannada District President, Pramod Uchil, Bajrang Dal President Udaya Poojary, Ramakrishna Shetty, Yogish Kutpady, Shailesh Devadiga and others were present.
