Udupi: “We are undertaking prajadhvani yatra and have come to understand the problems of all the people of the state, understand your pain and opinion and give relief, said Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar.
Speaking during the Yatra , he said, “We used to win all the seats in these Districts. But now there is only one MLA in both the Districts. We are pained by this,” he added.
“I would like to express my special thanks to the workers of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts. Pramod Madhwaraj, a first-time MLA, was given a ministerial berth in Siddaramaiah’s Government to organise the party in the region. Yet he betrayed the party and went to the BJP. But none of the Congress workers went with him. So I would like to thank you.
Further he said, “The Congress had given ministerial berths to the father, mother and son. What more can the Congress offer than this? In the 2023 elections, whichever party he is contesting from, the Congress candidate should win and defeat him. He used to sit on the dais when he was in our party. Now he is in a position to go to the BJP and sit down,” he added.
“We have come to the feet of Lord Krishna today. We have come to the land of Narayana Guru. The region has its own history. These two Districts are the districts with most educated and intelligent people. These Districts have given economic strength to this country. There are three medical colleges under a single panchayat limits in Udupi,” he noted.
“We walked the talk. It was the Congress party which gave justice to all sections of the people,” he stressed.
“No one can create history if history is forgotten,” Ambedkar said. The Congress thought of building people’s lives by bank nationalisation. But the BJP is neglecting the lives of the people and doing politics over the issue of sentiments and also by privatising all institutions.”
“The BJP has a Double Engine Government. But they kept their promise? We will double the income of farmers and give them 2 crore jobs,” he said. Whatever promises were made to the fishermen of this region, none of them have been fulfilled. The fishermen of this region have made an appeal to me. They are asking for kerosene.They are demanding that the 300 litres of kerosene that is being offered now should be increased to 500 litres. But the present Government has decided to give only 75 litres. They have given us 10 such demands. This Government has not been able to fulfil these, he said.
“Recently, the Government held an investors’ meet and said it has received an investment of Rs. 10 Lakh Crore. I would like to ask a question to Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, Sadananda Gowda. Out of this Rs. 10 Lakh Crore investment, how much money has been brought to be invested in Mangalore, Udupi and Shivamogga Seeing your governance, no one has come forward to invest in these parts. That’s because you’re playing with people’s feelings,” he alleged.
“I have friends from many educational institutions in the region. Students from other states and countries used to come here to study in educational institutions here. But most people are not sending their children here because they see the communal riots sowing the seeds of poison,” he lamented.
“Innocent minorities, workers who worked for the BJP Party have been killed during the rule of this Government. Only innocent people are being killed here. Why are the children of BJP leaders not coming forward with tridents and sticks to organise the party? Only the children of the poor are being sacrificed,” he rued.
“I make an appeal to bjp workers and supporters. The BJP said Double Engine Government, acche din, tell me where is the acche din? People from all walks of life have suffered for two years during Covid. This Government did not help anyone. Siddaramaiah and I fought for an incentive of Rs. 10,000 per month for this class of people. At that time, some drivers were paid Rs. 5,000 only for a month. They did not give help to the street vendors,” he alleged.
“All the leaders of the Congress party have discussed how to change your life. We have decided to provide 200 units of free electricity to every household every month through a scheme called GrihaJyoti to help you who are reeling under price rise. Though there was not a single MLA in Hassan, thousands of people supported us with a grand welcome. It is a sign that we want a change in the State,” he observed.
“More than 8,000 suggestions and opinions were received when asked what the Congress party should do for women. We have announced a scheme called Grihalakshmi which provides financial assistance. The BJP is making the announcement after we made the announcement. The Districts which were a model not only for the State but also for the country in education are now declining in their positions. Do you think you have to vote for the BJP? Of the 600 promises made by the BJP last time, only 50 have been fulfilled. Siddaramaiah made 165 promises and fulfilled 159 promises. We have given 30 more programmes. Seeing BJP’s misrule, we have realised BJP’s sin. You have to deliver it to every home,” he informed.
“Congress power is the strength of the country, snd Congress history is the history of the country. If the Congress comes to power all sections of people will come to power. It will provide justice to all. The Congress will come to power on its own in the coming days. We will win all the seats in this District. We will sincerely work together as your servants,” he assured.
