Udupi: Throwing eggs on the car of Former Chief Minister and Opposition Leader of Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah by the miscreants during the visit at Kodagu and Madikeri was indirectly justified by Energy, Kannada and Culture Minister Sunil Kumar.

Speaking to mediapersons at Manipal here on Friday August 19, Minister Sunil Kumar said that this kind of act by the miscreants is done without the support of someone. When the feelings of the people bursts, these types of protests will be held, he said.

Siddaramaiah has spoken insulting Savarkar several times. This kind of insulting attitude of Siddaramaiah on Savarkar has not been accepted by the people. He is not happy with the people using vermillion on the forehead of the people, as such he is also not happy to see the photo of Savarkar, he said.

He added, “When giving any statement on Savarkar should he not face any protests and agitated heat? Whatever he says cannot be digested. When he spoke about Savarkar in a lighthearted manner, he didn’t know the history of Veer Savarkar. He was the fighter for the independence of the country, that’s why we call Savarkar as Veer Savarkar. He asked Siddaramaiah to go to Andaman Island and see the condition of Cellular jail over there. Then one will be able to understand the cruelty of the British, he said.

He said that, “all over the State, the Veer Savarkar’s photos on the banners will increase when odd feelings exist. If anyone speaks insulted words on Savarkar, the feelings for establishment of statues, putting banners, programmes, and processions on Veer Savarkar will increase. Hence, Siddaramaiah is solely responsible for this kind of act by the people at large.”

In response to life threat for Siddaramaiah by RSS, Sunil Kumar said that he never supports any kind of terror. We never believe in terror move by anyone. If he has a life threat, he should appeal to the police to get security, he said.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat among others were present.
