Udupi: No need to panic on monkeypox disease in Udupi District as there are no reports of people with monkeypox symptoms in the District, said Udupi Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M.
Speaking to mediapersons at the DC Office here on Monday July 25, DC Kurma Rao M. said that there were six people from Udupi District who had travelled with the first monkeypox-infected person from Kerala. However, the all the six people have been kept under observation for 21 days, DC said.
DC said that as per the protocol, the District Administration through the surveillance was directed to take precautions. The State Government has directed the Health Department to take precautions on monkeypox disease.
DC Kurma Rao M. also said that six persons who travelled from abroad in the same aircraft and seated close to infected were in isolation for close observation. We found that none of them had any symptoms of monkeypox and the isolation duration of 21 days is about to expire, he noted.
