Udupi: One arrested, 5 motorcycles seized

Udupi: The District Police have arrested one and seized five motorcycles from an inter-district two-wheeler thief from K. R. Pete in Mandya District.

The arrested person has been identified as Govindappa of the Gadag District. The accused stole many scooters and motorcycles from the Doddanagudde and Sode Matha areas within the limit of the Udupi Town Police Station. He was also involved in two-wheeler thefts in Mangaluru’s Bunder and Dakshina Kannada District’s Belthangady.

While investigating a complaint from a delivery boy with an online shopping company here that his scooter was stolen while he was delivering a product to a customer, police tracked down the location. The culprit was tracked down to K. R. Pete in Mandya and arrested on Wednesday September 21 based on CCTV evidence.

Govindappa was jailed for seven years in a murder case in the Haveri District’s Ranebennuru Police Station limits. The accused was arrested with five motorcycles worth Rs 2 lakh. According to the sources, he appeared before court on Thursday and was remanded to judicial custody.
