Udupi: Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Inland Transport S. Angara on Monday October 31 said that the project to produce biodiesel from fish waste will begin in January of next year.
Speaking to mediapersons he said that the State Government has put a strong emphasis on fish farming to make the state the top spot for fish production.
He also noted that a plot of land owned by the Fisheries Department in Mulki has been identified for the installation of the facility for the production of biodiesel from fish waste.
The Minister said that efforts are being made to ensure stable fish product prices.
When asked about the issue of traditional fishing boats not getting kerosene supplies, he said that the government is thinking about a long-term solution. In two to three days, there will be an announcement on a possible solution, said Angara.
In response to the safety concerns made about the Kemmannu suspension bridge, he said that t information on the bridge’s condition has been requested from the concerned officials. The appropriate corrective action will be done after the inputs are received, he said.
