Udupi: Writer and thinker Rohith Chakrathirtha is likely to be the BJP candidate from the District Assembly constituency in the upcoming state assembly election.
According to sources, RSS and BJP State leaders already communicated this to party leader Pramod Madhwaraj and asked him to ensure that Rohith will not face any major challenges in the election.
Presently this constituency is represented by BJP’s Raghupati Bhat. RSS leaders believe that there is a need of giving the opportunity to young leaders from this ‘safe’ constituency where Congress has no strong candidate after Pramod Madhwaraj quit the grand old party.
“Chakrathirtha has a strong following in Udupi. As he is a local resident, there may not be any challenges for him. The party is fielding strong candidates from mogaveera, bunts, and billava communities in the neighbouring constituencies to ensure that Chakrathirtha will win easily,” said sources.
Chakrathirtha is considered a popular Sangh-based thinker from Karnataka.
