Udupi: The State Government has taken a decision to construct ‘Rangamandiras’ in all Districts, said Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Rangamandira in Udupi on Sunday October 2, he expressed surprise that it took this long for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi with rich culture to get centres for performing arts. A grant of Rs. 5 Crore will be provided for District-level Rangamandiras, he said.
He added that Rs. 2 Crore grant will be provided for taluk-level centres. Also, he said while Rs 2.5 Crore will soon be released for the Udupi cenytre, the construction of a Rangamandira in Mangaluru will start soon.
