Udupi: In connection with ambulance accident at Shiroor tollgate, Byndoor Police has filed a case against ambulance driver. The driver has been identified as Roshan Rodrigues.
The case is filed based on the complaint given by tollgate personnel Deepak Shetty. The accident killed four persons. Now Roshan Rodrigues who was admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries has been discharged, while four others are still recovering from injuries.
Recalling the incident it was witnessed that the tollgate personnel who delayed the removal of barricades and driving away the cow that was sitting in the lane, while an ambulance was approaching with the sound of siren at a distance of 500 metre. The tollgate personnel did not react quickly enough say the public. In addition, it is said that two barricades should not be kept at emergency lane which is used only for emergency vehicles and VIPs.
