Udupi: When the parents of a child who died during childbirth were unable to perform the last rites, the police and social workers helped the parents and performed the last rites.

The wife of Ajmeruddin, a native of Bihar, was admitted to the Mother and Children’s Hospital in Udupi for delivery. However, the newborn died in the stomach after being hit in the stomach while working. Later, the couple was not able to perform the last rites of the baby. That is when social worker Nithyananda Volakadu, in coordination with Manipal Police Station Sub-Inspector Sudhakar Thonse, performed the cremation of the baby at the burial ground in Beedinagudda.

Sadly, the couple’s three children had died earlier as well. It is sad that the fourth child has also died.
