Udupi: A youth died and another got injured when a tipper lorry hit a scooter at the Katapady Junction on NH-66 here on Friday December 2.
The deceased has been identified as Udyavara Kedar (20), resident Sushikshit Bhandari. The scooter’s rider, Jaydeep, was seriously hurt in the accident.
According to sources, Bhandari, a waiter for a catering business, was travelling from Udyavara to the catering venue in Uchila on a scooter with his friend. he tipper lorry moving from Katapady towards Shirva rammed into the scooter at the highway intersection.
Bhandari was seriously injured in the collision and taken to a hospital in Manipal, but he passed on the way. Jaydeep is receiving medical treatment.
A case has been registered at Kapu Police Station.
