Udupi: ‘Yakshagana lifeline of Coastal region’

Udupi: The two-day State-level “Samagra Yakshagana Sammelana” organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture, Karnataka Yakshagana Academy and Udupi District Administration at MGM College Grounds in Udupi was inaugurated on Saturday February 11.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated the Sammelana.

Speaking on the occasion she said, “Yakshagana is the lifeline of the Coast. Yakshagana and Indian culture are inextricably linked. The contribution of Yakshagana in the development of Kannada language and literature is immense and hence it is not right to make a controversy when it comes to Yakshagana, she said.

On this occasion, Energy Minister V. Sunil Kumar, Backward Classes Commission Chairman Jayaprakash Hegde, MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, who is also the Chairman of the Reception Committee of Samagra Yakshagana Sammelana and others were present.
