Udupi: MLA Raghupathi Bhat has said that India’s Yoga system, which helps in leading a healthy life, has gained worldwide recognition and doing yogasana everyday can lead to good health.
He was addressing the gathering at Manipal’s end point on Sunday January 15. He inaugurated a Yogathon organised jointly by District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Dr. G. Shankar Family Trust, Ambalapady Udupi. “Yoga has gained world recognition by the United Nations declaring June 21 as World Yoga Day to proclaim to the world the importance of India’s Yoga system. It is possible to attain physical and mental health by practicing yoga continuously. Yoga will help in providing relief to stress and thus everyone will be able to lead a stress-free and healthy life by adopting Yoga in their daily life.
Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M. welcomed the gathering. Dr. Roshan Kumar Shetty, Assistant Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, presented the vote of thanks.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Prasanna H, SP Hackey Akshay Machindra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Veena B. N., DDPI Ganapathy, Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director Poornima, MAHE’s Colonel Prakash, Dr Vinod and others were present.
More than 15,000 students registered and participated in the Yogathon and the general public also participated in the event and practiced various asanas.
