Udupi: Pontiff of the Pejawar Adhokshaja Mutt, Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji said that ‘Gayatri Mantra’ is a universal anthem.
Addressing the gathering on Saturday, December 14, at the first ever Tulu Shivalli Brahmin Vishwa Sammelana, he said, “Jana Gan Mana is the national anthem of India, likewise, ‘Gayatri Mantra’ (o? bh?r bhuva? suva? tatsaviturvare?ya? bhargo devasyadh?mahi dhiyo yo na? prachoday?t) is a ‘universal anthem’. This mantra has the capacity to heal the world and bring in prosperity. Brahmins should make it a point to chant this mantra daily.”
He said, “The Tulu Shivalli Brahmin community is a part of a larger Hindu society and all the brahmin communities are interrelated. For the Hindu society to be strengthened, all of the brahmin community needs to stand united.”
Meanwhile, he gave a message to all the Tulu speaking community to nurture the language, respect and consider it as their ‘mother’.
