Udupi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Rajathadri in Manipal today to protest against the withdrawal of the anti-conversion law by the Congress government in the state.
The activists, who had gathered in hundreds, shouted slogans against the state government’s decision. Addressing the protest, Sri Rajasekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Mutt said that the state government was adopting an anti-Hindu policy and chief minister Siddaramaiah was indulging in appeasement politics of one community.
It is not correct that whatever is done under the influence of power. Stop insulting Hinduism and take power, otherwise you will get an answer in the next six months,” he said.
Bajrang Dal state convener Sunil K R, VHP district president Dinesh Mendon, MLA Yashpal Suvarna, Gururaja Gantihole, former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, BJP district president Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, prominent leaders Chetan Peralke, K Sudhakaran and others were present. Udaykumar Shetty, Bykadi Suprasad Shetty, Raghavendra Kini, Shyamala Kunder, Sumitra R. Naik, Andaru Devi Prasad Shetty, VHP, Bajrang Dal and BJP leaders were present.
