Karwar: Bhagavata Thimmappa dies in car accident

Karwar: Bhagavata Thimmappa Balehadda (59), a Yakshagana Bhagavata and a musician, passed away on the evening of Tuesday December 13 in an accident between two cars.

He was seriously injured after his car collided with another car near Hithalli Cross on Sirsi – Yellapur State Highway and was rushed to a hospital in Sirsi where he succumbed to his injuries.

He learnt bhagavatike from his father Krishna Bhagavata, who was a famous Bhagavata, and learnt music from Sripada Hegde Kampli. He was a student of Hosathota Manjunatha Bhagavata. He himself had created a children’s percussions’ party. Children were taught Yakshagana, Arthashastra, Bhagavatike and music. He used to provide music for theatres too.
