A man from Delhi has been apprehended for allegedly murdering his two newborn daughters and burying them, according to authorities on Wednesday. Neeraj Solanki reportedly desired a son and was distressed by the birth of twin daughters. Following the alleged murders on June 3, he had been evading capture until his arrest in Haryana.

The incident unfolded after Pooja Solanki, residing in Delhi’s Sultanpuri with her husband Neeraj, gave birth to twin girls at a hospital in Rohtak, Haryana, on May 30.

“The accused had been changing his location frequently in Delhi and Haryana to evade arrest,” stated the police in an official statement. Neeraj Solanki, aged 32, faces murder charges after his wife reported the incident to the authorities.

Police Investigation Details

The police initiated an investigation after receiving a report at Sultanpuri police station on June 3 regarding the alleged murder of the newborn twins. According to police reports, the caller alleged that his brother-in-law had killed his three-day-old twin daughters and buried them at a crematorium.

“In response, police stationed personnel at the cremation ground where the infants were buried and obtained permission from the SDM to exhume the bodies. The corpses were unearthed on June 5 and taken to a mortuary in Mangolpuri, where a post-mortem was conducted on June 6. Subsequently, the bodies were handed over to their maternal uncle,” the police explained.

Arrest of Neeraj Solanki

A team from the crime branch was assigned to locate Neeraj Solanki, a graduate of Delhi University who derived income from property rentals. The police employed surveillance tactics and gathered information from local sources.

Through analysis of call records, it was observed that Neeraj Solanki frequently changed his mobile phones, SIM cards, and hideouts to avoid detection by law enforcement. Following searches conducted in various locations across Delhi and Haryana, Neeraj Solanki was eventually apprehended in Sampla, Rohtak.

During interrogation, Neeraj Solanki confessed to the murders, as confirmed by the police.
