Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Mullai Mugilan M.P., who is also the District Magistrate, has ordered the handover of licensed weapons within the limits of the gram panchayath where elections have been announced. The objective is to ensure peace, maintain order, and ensure the safety of the public during the gram Panchayath elections.
The elections will be held in Nidpally and Aryapu Gram Panchayath in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, Madanthyar and Ujire gram Panchayaths in Belthangady taluk and Pudu gram panchayath in Bantawala taluk. Therefore, from July 19, 2023 to August 1, 2023, all licensors holding arms license for crop protection and self-defense within the jurisdiction of this Gram Panchayath shall deposit all the weapons at the authorized gun ammunition dealers having a Form 8 license under the Indian Arms Act or at the nearest police stations.
“If there is any objection in this regard, if there is an in dire need of a weapon for the protection of their crops, they can submit representations along with supporting documents to the Tahsildar within a week of the issue of this order,” Mullai Mugilan said.
