Dharwad: Farmers voiced their grievances through a demonstration where they adorned the Dharwad Deputy Commissioner’s office with dried maize crops. Their message was a call for the government to ensure proper compensation for the drought-affected farmers.
Santosh Lad, the minister in-charge of Dharwad district, brought the dried maize crops to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in an attempt to persuade them regarding the crop damage issue. Upon his departure, he also sought to grab the government’s attention by planting dried maize crops at the same location.
Farmers, having affixed their withered crops at the entrance of the Dharwad Deputy Commissioner’s office, expressed their demand for the government to address the dire situation faced by farmers and ensure appropriate compensation for their crop losses.
