Dharwad: An FIR has been registered at Vidyagiri Police Station against Gopal Joshi following a complaint by a woman alleging sexual and mental harassment.

Woman alleges sexual assault and harassment

Rama Kulkarni, a resident of Kalyan Nagar, lodged the complaint alleging that she and her family had faced severe financial and mental distress because of Joshi.

In her complaint, Kulkarni alleged that Joshi sexually assaulted her at their apartment in Malamaddi on May 25. She sought strict legal action against him over the allegations.

Following the complaint, Vidyagiri Police registered a case and launched an investigation. The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.

Joshi files counter-complaint

Soon after Kulkarni’s complaint was registered, Gopal Joshi filed a counter-complaint against her at Keshwapur Police Station.

In his complaint, Joshi alleged that Kulkarni had threatened to damage his reputation unless he paid her money. He claimed that she repeatedly called his mobile phone demanding money and allegedly attempted to extort him.

Joshi further alleged that after he refused to meet her demands, Kulkarni began making false allegations against him with the intention of defaming him. He also claimed that her actions had caused mental harassment to him and his family.

Police investigation underway

Both complaints have now been registered at separate police stations, with the allegations and counter-allegations requiring investigation.

Police are expected to examine the complaints and other available evidence before taking further action. No allegation in either complaint has been established as fact at this stage.
