Dharwad: Students in hostels across the city extended heartfelt thanks to Upa Lokayukta Justice KN Phaneendra for addressing their concerns during his recent visit. His inspection shed light on several shortcomings in hostel conditions, prompting swift action from authorities.
Justice Phaneendra toured multiple hostels, interacting with students and assessing their grievances firsthand. Issues like inadequate cleanliness, lack of clean drinking water, and insufficient facilities were highlighted. Following his directives, significant improvements were implemented, including the provision of new refrigerators and kitchen utensils at a Social Welfare Department-run hostel.
This intervention came after students had earlier staged protests for better facilities, but Justice Phaneendra’s proactive measures expedited the changes. “We urge the Upa Lokayukta to visit more hostels, educational institutions, and private hospitals to ensure such positive transformations continue,” students remarked.
The visit underscores the importance of dynamic leadership in resolving pressing issues, leaving a lasting impact on the well-being of hostel residents.
