Hyderabad: A 34-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly drowned her nine-month-old daughter in Bairamalguda Lake under the LB Nagar Police Station limits in Hyderabad on Sunday evening.
Police said the accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Baby allegedly thrown into lake
The deceased has been identified as Lokasani Anuradha, while the accused, Lokasani Rajeswari (34), is a resident of Injapur and a native of Bidar district in Karnataka.
According to the police, Rajeswari allegedly threw her infant daughter into the lake, leading to the child’s death.
The baby’s body was later recovered from the lake and shifted to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Mother taken into custody
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that Rajeswari was under the influence of liquor when the incident occurred.
She has been taken into custody, and investigators are probing the motive behind the alleged crime.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
The police are examining all circumstances surrounding the incident before filing the final charges.
