Dakshina Kannada district, with a total of 36,082 voters aged above 85 and individuals with disabilities, has been granted the opportunity for ‘vote-from-home’ by the Election Commission of India (ECI). This facility particularly targets citizens above 85 years and persons with disabilities (PwD) possessing a 40% benchmark disability. Those opting for this method to vote are required to submit a consent form accordingly.

Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP affirmed that officials would imminently engage with eligible voters to facilitate the process.

As of March 15, Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency encompasses 17,96,826 voters, comprising 8,77,438 male, 9,19,321 female, and 67 third gender voters. The electoral data provided by the district administration reveals 13,159 individuals aged above 85, 8,269 above 90 years, and 459 voters surpassing the century mark.

Breaking down the figures across various assembly constituencies, Belthangady boasts 1,786 voters above 80 years, while Moodbidri, Mangaluru City North, Mangaluru City South, Mangaluru, Bantwal, Puttur, and Sullia constituencies house varying numbers of elderly voters. Additionally, the district accommodates 14,195 persons with disabilities, distributed across the aforementioned assembly segments.

In a bid to ensure efficient assistance and grievance redressal, control rooms have been established in each assembly constituency. Individuals can seek aid or lodge complaints through the designated helplines to vote:

  • Belthangady: 08256-232042
  • Moodbidri: 08258-238100
  • Mangaluru City North: 0824-2220587 or 2220517

  • Mangaluru: 0820-2010081
  • Bantwal: 08255-232500
