Chikkodi: Unable to bear the harassment of a lawyer, an outsourced employee went live on Facebook and attempted suicide by consuming poison. Halappa Surani is an outsourced employee. His wife Mahadevi Surani also consumed poison after seeing her husband consuming poison.
Halappa Surani and his wife Mahadevi Surani have been admitted to a private hospital in Harugeri. Halappa Surani of Savasudhi village in Rayabaga taluk of Belagavi district works on an outsourced basis in the land records department of the Raibagha tahsildar’s office.
He met Sadashiva Nidoni, a lawyer from Raibagh, in 2018. Later, there was a dispute between the two over the issue of land records. Advocate Sadashiva Nidoni has filed a case against Halappa Surani.
Halappa Surani went live on Facebook late at night and said, “Lawyer Sadashiva Nidoni has filed a false case against me and has been mentally harassing me since 2018. Sadashiv Nidoni came to Halappa Surani’s office and verbally abused him and demanded Rs 10 lakh, They threatened him.
I have decided to die looking at the faces of my wife and children. Halappa Surani, has consumed poison by requesting for justice for his family. Harugeri police visited the spot and got the information.
