The Bellare police have detained Sanjeeva Kaniyoor, a forest official from the Mangaluru Forest Division, following complaints of making obscene and defamatory remarks about Billava women. An audio recording of the official allegedly making derogatory comments has been circulating on social media. The Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV) filed the complaint, accusing Sanjeeva of character assassination and false claims about Hindu youths.
