Mangaluru: The makers of Toss, the upcoming multilingual film directed by actor-director Arjun Dev (Arjun Kapikad), have unveiled the motion poster and announced that the film will hit theatres on September 18. The film has generated considerable interest as it marks the Tulu cinema debut of Garuda Ram, the actor best known for portraying the menacing Garuda in the blockbuster KGF franchise.
The motion poster, released as part of the film’s first promotional campaign, features an AI-generated introduction to one of the principal characters and offers audiences a glimpse of the film’s action-packed narrative.
Garuda Ram joins Tulu cinema
Garuda Ram makes his maiden appearance in a Tulu film through Toss, where he plays a powerful antagonist opposite Arjun Dev.
Known for his intense screen presence in the KGF series, Garuda Ram’s casting is expected to add wider appeal to the film beyond the traditional Tulu-speaking audience.
According to the filmmakers, the actor spent nearly three weeks shooting for his portions before travelling to Mangaluru to dub for his role.
His inclusion is seen as one of the major highlights of the project, which aims to bring larger-scale production values to Tulu cinema.
Arjun Dev highlights industry’s growth
Actor-director Arjun Kapikad, popularly known as Arjun Dev, said the industry needs ambitious productions to help Tulu cinema expand its reach.
He said Garuda Ram’s association with Toss has strengthened the film and described working with the experienced actor as a rewarding experience.
Arjun Dev announced the project nearly a year ago, and the film has now completed production and is ready for its theatrical release.
The newly released motion poster marks the beginning of the film’s promotional campaign ahead of its September release.
Multilingual release planned
The makers have confirmed that Toss will be released simultaneously in Tulu, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi, making it one of the few Tulu-origin films to receive such a wide multilingual release.
The strategy is aimed at reaching audiences beyond coastal Karnataka while introducing Tulu cinema to viewers across different linguistic markets.
