In a shocking incident, a police constable, Lokanath, stabbed his wife, Mamatha, to death on the premises of the Superintendent of Police’s office in Hassan, Karnataka, on Monday. Following the attack, Lokanath fled the scene, prompting a police search for the accused.

The tragic event unfolded when Mamatha arrived at the SP’s office to file a complaint against her husband. Enraged by her actions, Lokanath ambushed her and stabbed her in the chest in front of police personnel and the public. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Mamatha succumbed to her injuries.

Lokanath and Mamatha had been married for 17 years and were parents to two children. The couple had been embroiled in a family dispute, culminating in a bitter argument just four days prior to the incident. Lokanath was employed at the office of the circle inspector in Shanthigrama.

Hassan City police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the matter.
