Haveri: In a major drug trafficking operation, Haveri police arrested three individuals on Friday for attempting to sell ganja in Haveri city. The accused—Gulam Rasool Khan, Mallik Rehan, and Purakhan—are all residents of Savanoor. They were caught with 11 kg 843 grams of ganja, valued at Rs 2,96,075.
The Haveri Town Police, acting on a tip-off, apprehended the trio on Nagendramatti-Shantinagar road while they were in the process of selling the illegal substance. Alongside the ganja, the police seized a mobile phone and Rs 900 in cash from the suspects.
The arrest was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar praised the police team for their dedicated work in tackling drug-related crimes in Haveri.
