Hubballi: Condemning the alleged derogatory remark by Minister for Urban Development Roshan Baig against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP workers staged a demonstration in Dharwad on October 14.
The protesters raised slogans against minister Baig and the government for “safeguarding the minister.”
As the protesters blocked the Jubilee Circle for some time, vehicular movement was affected and the police had to divert traffic. President of BJP’s Hubballi-Dharwad urban district unit Nagesh Kalburgi condemned Baig’s statement in strong words and said that the protests would continue till the minister apologised.
He said the Congress leaders were unable to digest the popularity of Modi and now it had become a tradition in the Congress to put the blame on the prime minister for everything.
District President of BJP Raitha Morcha Aravind Egangoudar urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to drop Baig from his Cabinet or else the protests will continue, he warned.
