Hubballi: “Former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has the habit of making baseless allegations,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking to press persons at Hubballi airport, Siddaramaiah clarified that there was no scam in the state government, and that his Cabinet colleague D.K. Shivakumar and KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao had already responded to the allegations.
On the criticisms by opposition parties, particularly those of the BJP against the ‘Mahiti Utsav’ being organised across the State, he said that the BJP leaders were making allegations as the elections were nearing.
“We have invited leaders of all political parties to the programme,” he said, adding that the objective of the programme was to create awareness among the people about the State government’s achievements.
Taking serious exception to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that “not a penny would be released to those opposing development”, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said it was not right for a Prime Minister to comment in such a manner.
He stated that in a democratic country, the Prime Minister should not issue such a statement. “It shows a lack of understanding of the Constitution, what the Centre gives to the States is not charity. It is our right,” he said.
