Hubballi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai instructed officials to complete all the works related to the Hubballi-Dharawad Smart City project within a year.

He was speaking after inaugurating a slew of civic infrastructure works under the Hubballi – Dharawad Smart City project in Hubballi.

The Smart City works, which started in 2014 – 2015, were expected to be completed in 2020, said Bommai. He has instructed the officials to complete all the ongoing works before March 31 of the current financial year.

In a statement released by his office, it was mentioned that 555 of the project’s 555 works had already been completed.

“The quality of the work done for the Smart City project should never be compromised. Action will be taken against contractors who did not uphold a high quality of work,” he said.

CM said that there should not be any disparities in the district’s development.

“The foundation stone for a branch of Jayadeva Cardiac Hospital to be built at a cost of Rs. 300 Crore will be laid in August. Orders have been issued for establishing an FMCG cluster in Dharwad which would create about one lakh jobs,” he added.
