Hubballi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Tuesday December 7 that the Government is taking steps to increase the number of genome sequencing labs in the State, citing concerns over the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
“We have taken steps to set up genome sequencing labs, which requires specialised facilities and lab equipment,” CM said.
He also said that instructions have been provided to the Health Secretary on increasing the number of genomic sequencing labs in the State.
Speaking to mediapersons here he said that, “Now because of the Omicron variant, whenever there is suspicion, we are sending samples for such a test and higher reference samples are also sent to the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS). There are no concerns as genome sequencing reports are coming much faster than before.”
