Hubballi: A 35-year-old man was hacked to death in broad daylight in Shirur Park, a prominent area of Vidyanagar, on Friday, with police suspecting that the murder was the result of an old rivalry.

The deceased has been identified as Dadaphir Udaykar, a resident of Boganurkoppa in Kalaghatagi taluk.

According to preliminary information, two persons allegedly chased Udaykar in an autorickshaw, intercepted his motorcycle on a main road in Shirur Park and attacked him with sharp weapons.

The incident, which occurred in a busy locality, was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras. Police have launched an investigation and are making efforts to trace and arrest the accused.
