Sandalwood industry comes together to back K’taka farmers

Hubballi: Under the aegis of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) and various pro-Kannada organizations hundreds of sandalwood actors joined the city to express their solidarity with the farmers demanding to implement Kalasa Banduri project.

On Sunday September 13, the actors, producers, directors, technicians participated in a protest march after addressing a rally here on Sunday.

KFCC president Thomas D’souza said the Kannada film industry had always stood up for the people of the state during times of crisis and it will support on the issue of Kalasa-Banduri Nala project also.

He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and make efforts to solve the long-pending issue.

“The central government has not taken the issue of Kalasa Banduri project seriously though the movement has entered 56th day, said Dr Rajkumar Fans’ Association president S R Govind.

Addressing the media the Uppi2 Star, Upendra said that the farmers are the ‘anna datta’ (God who provides food), to the nation, we need to support them.

Big names from Sandalwood industry such as Shivrajkumar, Punit Rajkumar, Yash, Jayamala, Santosh, Rockline Venkatesh, Duniya Vijay, Saroja Devi, Pooja Gandhi and other participated in the protest.
