Hubballi: CID officials have submitted an application in the JMFC court in town, stating that there is no need to investigate Yasin Bhatkal’s case. With this decision by the CID, the case against the most wanted Indian Mujahideen terrorist will not be further probed.
The CID officials had tried to get his statements after his arrest for two long years. But now, they have said that he is not co-operating with the probe and hence, there is no need to further investigate the case.
Yasin Bhatkal is one among the 21 accused in the Hubballi Students Isalamic Movement of India (SIMI) case. Already 17 accused have been freed by the Additional District and Sessions Court. Yasin is in Cherlapelli prison in Rangareddy district in Telangana who is the main accused in 2013 bomb attack case in Dil Sukh Nagar in Hyderabad.
On September CID sleths went to the prison and investigated but it is learnt that Yasin has not co-operated with them. He reportedly told them that he would give statements only after taking advice from his lawyer. The same statement was recorded by the CID officials and has been submitted to Hubballi court and they have been asked to take action against Yasin Bhatkal.
Native of the same town Bhatkal, in coastal Karnataka and belonging to a well-off family, Yasin had co-founded IM along with Riyaz and Iqbal Bhatkal, who have handled all the operations from Pakistan on the directions of Lashkar-e-Taiba and ISI.
