Kalburgi : A case has been filed against five individuals, including Shasheel G. Namoshi, a member of the Vidhan Parishad and president of the institution, for allegedly misappropriating ₹65.17 crore in stipends and seat allotments for post-graduate students at Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC) under the Hyderabad Karnataka Educational Institution (HKE).

The complaint was lodged by lawyer Pradeep Sangappa, a member of the organization. The accused include former president Basavaraja Shivsharanappa Bhimalli, former deans Dr. Mallikarjuna Bhandari and Dr. Sainath K., as well as Dr. Sharanbasappa R.

The accused are alleged to have neglected to disburse stipends to PG students at MRMC between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2018. Additionally, it is claimed that college seats reserved for candidates were refunded to certain students, who did not return the funds but instead sold them to others for a profit.

In total, an estimated ₹65.17 crore from these activities has been alleged to have been used for personal gain rather than for its intended purpose within the institution.

Previously, a similar complaint was made against former president Bhima Shankar Bilagundi and four others for allegedly misappropriating ₹81.21 crore in stipends meant for 282 PG medical students between 2018 and 2024.

This unprecedented scandal has raised serious concerns about financial irregularities within educational institutions and highlights an urgent need for transparency and accountability in managing student funds.
