Ballari: Men throw slippers at mosque, arrested

Ballari: Ballari District Police arrested four persons who were taking part in the Ganesha Chaturthi procession for allegedly throwing slippers at a mosque in Siruguppa.

The accused have been identified as Bhimanna (23) Ashok, (22) and Anjaneyalu (21) as well as Nitesh Kumar, 22, who threw slippers. On Saturday, the event happened when the Ganesha Chaturti procession was taking place. The police claimed that the accused threw slippers at the mosque to stir up communal tension.

“We have secured the accused persons, and proper legal action is being taken against them,” tweeted Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order).

The arrest came after the video footage of throwing slippers went viral.
