Ballari: “MLA J. N. Ganesh has no concern for farmers. Senior Congress Leader Ramasagara B. Narayanappa alleged that the farmers were being used for their selfish ends instead.
Speaking at a religious function at nearby Emmiganur Village, he said that the Government has not given support price for paddy and other crops grown mainly by the farmers of the Constituency. Also, procurement centres have not been opened. He said that the MLAs were silent on the issue without raising their voices.
“The magani roads in the villages of the constituency have been damaged causing a lot of problems to the farmers. The discharge of water from Tungabhadra River is not special. Earlier, a two-day padayatra was taken out from Kampli to the Ballari Deputy Commissioner’s office via Kurugodu demanding fulfilment of their demands, he noted.
He said that the MLAs, who were not involved in the farmers’ struggle then and did not stand by the farmers, are now trying to woo the farmers by making false promises in the name of meetings and various functions for electoral gains. All these developments are being watched by the farmers of the Constituency and they will teach a lesson to the MLAs in the next elections,” he added.
