Bidar: The Anganwadi Center-2, situated in a forested village, faces the risk of collapsing, causing fear among students and caretakers. Despite being in the South Assembly constituency, the center lacks basic facilities due to the negligence of the local governing body.
The center has been operating in a deteriorating old building for 25 years, with a damaged roof, broken windows, and doors, and rainwater seeping in and spoiling stored grains. There have been instances of snakes entering the cooking area, further alarming the children and caretakers.
The absence of a functional toilet is a significant concern. Despite government funding for constructing toilets in educational institutions, this center still lacks a usable one due to the panchayat authorities’ neglect.
The possibility of young children falling into a deep pit in the Anganwadi room is worrisome, discouraging parents from sending their children to the center. Only a few children attend regularly, as the panchayat’s apathy denies them proper education.
The gram panchayat president claims the building is in good condition but promised repairs. However, immediate action is necessary to address this disorder, as the safety of young children is at risk. The villagers hold the panchayat and PDO officials accountable for any future harm if not addressed promptly.
