Bidar: ‘Basavanna worked hard to eradicate the ignorance that had taken root in the society in the 12th century,’ said BJP candidate Dr. Siddu Patil.
He spoke at the Basaveshwara Jayanti programme held at the BJP mandal office on the outskirts of the town. He said that the ideas of Basavanna ,the pioneer of equality should be heeded by all the communities. There is unrest between religions in the present society, he noted.
He said that if Basavanna’s principle that mercy is the root of religion is followed harmony will arise.
