Bidar: National bird peacock died on the road after being hit by a vehicle.

As soon as the news came to light, Umesh Guttedar Bagdal, an environmentalist and BSP Youth Leader from Bidar South Constituency, rushed to the spot and handed over the dead peacock to the Forest Department staff.

Such incidents are on the rise on Bidar’s Mannakheli Road, yet the Forest Department is sitting idle, the locals allege.

There is a forest on both sides of the road so it is common for wild animals to move around.

Umesh Guttedar Bagdal said that the Forest Department should install signboards on the roadside and conduct programmes in villages on the fringes of the forest to create awareness about wild animals.
