Bidar: Lingayats demand Congress' ticket

Bidar: A memorandum was submitted to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committe President D. K. Shivakumar in Bengaluru demanding that Lingayats be allowed to contest in this Constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Lingayats have not been given tickets for 50 years. Therefore, even though there are 70,000 Lingayat votes in this Constituency, the candidate is not winning. At least this time, a ticket should be given to Lingayat community. Community members have already applied for tickets. It was asked that one of them should be given a chance.

They also met party Leaders Siddaramaiah, M. B. Patil and Shamanur Shivashankarappa and submitted a memorandum.

Leaders Keshappa Biradara, G. R. Patil, Arjuna Kanaka, Manohar Maise, Vishwanath Khalale, Sharanaiah Swamy, Shashikanth and Rajkumar were present.
