Bidar: At the second additional district and sessions court, a man has received a life imprisonment sentence, this verdict comes as a result of mental and physical harassment of his wife, ultimately leading to her death by pouring kerosene on her.
Tukaram Reddy Tonne, aged 52, residing in Yadalapura village. In 2014, he entered into matrimony with Pooja from Sirsi, Aurad. However, their marital life took a dark turn as he subjected his wife to both physical and mental abuse right from the onset. Within a span of few years, his cruelty escalated to the point where he ultimately doused her with kerosene and ignited a fire.
A case pertaining to this matter was filed at the Basavakalyan rural police station. Formerly, the investigation of the case was conducted by CPI Shivanagouda Patil, who subsequently filed a chargesheet in court.
Judge Raghavendra Channabasappa of the Second Additional District and Sessions Court in Basavakalyan handed down a life imprisonment sentence to the defendant. Additionally, a fine of Rs 2.56 lakh was imposed. The judgment was delivered alongside the penalty. Public prosecutor Basavantha Reddy argued that he played a pivotal role in securing justice for the deceased woman and ensuring the accused was held accountable.
